Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa

I managed to stay here during one of my business trips. It was a last minute decision, I wanted to book Pyramid Tower Hotel instead (it's the same company) as it's cheaper but was fully booked, so I only managed to book the Studio Suite room. I read a lot of negative reviews on Sunway hotels' services and also heard first-hand experience from my very close colleague who had just stayed in the Pyramid Tower Hotel that it's not worth for the price, so I was very sceptical about how my stays would be, but I have no other choice since my conference is held at Sunway Convention Center which is within Sunway Pyramid itself, and as I'm also not familiar with the place, I just had to accept it.

My say? Maybe you should view the photos first...

Ok, enough said (or seen) on the room. We'll start with the services - yes, it's as bad as what I've read and heard. The reservation person who answered my phone wasn't friendly at all and when I was asking her how much this room and that room cost, she answered impatiently as if not welcoming customers. While I was weighing whether I wanted to stay at Sunway Hotel Resort & Spa or Pyramid Suites & Studios (since Pyramid Hotel was fully booked), she made an impatient 'hmmmmpphhhh' sound. the way she treated me as if I'm a homeless, jobless and penniless person asking to stay there, and if I have a better choice, I would have slammed the phone and stayed at another hotel, but this was the nearest to where I wanted to go so I just bite my tongue.

Upon arrival and checking-in, the reception person was ok but still, I don't know what's up with the staffs here, they don't really smile like other big hotels' people. But anyway, my hubby and I are very satisfed with our room, apart from there was a big cockroach in the bathroom *grin* I took the room without breakfast as my conference will have meals ready, but even so, since the hotel and convention center is in the same building as Sunway Pyramid - the shopping mall, food is never really a problem, though shopping is quite limited for my taste :P

I don't think I'll ever stay here again for leisure, maybe for business will be comfortable, though the internet usage is chargable - I don't understand why they can't just include it in the room rate so customers feel like it's free? Most hotels I went, even a rated 3 stars hotel have free wifi access :P

Boulevard Hotel Midvalley

Star rating: ****
My rating: ******

One of the time when I visited my hubby in KL, we stayed here in Boulevard Hotel at Midvalley. It's actually part of Midvalley Mega Mall so it's very, very, VERY convenient for me, not only to dine but also satisfy my craves for shopping *grin* FYI, I was pregnant at the time so I have an excuse *grin*

We booked Executive Deluxe room coz we wanted to experience the Executive Club facilities, but when we arrived for check-in, the staff said there was a misunderstanding and our room was taken, but they'll replaced with another room and guess what? We were upgraded to Studio Suite! Of coz we were happy coz this room is more expensive...hihihi

So how does a Studio Suite looked like?
The room was superb! We really love it! The bathroom is so classy! Even Nisa was so excited with this hotel :D

We had llunch and dinner in Midvalley as we shopped. It's so convenient as we can return to our room to rest and let Nisa has her naps, then return to shop or dine again. On check-out day, somehow Nisa dropped her fav bunny soft toy and we only realized it when we reached Penang. I called the hotel in case their house-keeping staff found it and they said they'll look for it. They really took the pain to search for it and return my call on the same day that they couldn't find it, but will keep a look out. 3 days later, they called again to say they found the bunny under one of the chairs at the lobby instead of the room! Wow! I was so touched, nearly even cried coz Nisa loves the bunny so much, she never sleeps without it, in the staff took lots of extra effort in finding the worn out bunny!

So, papa went to fetch it at the hotel after work and by the end of the week, Nisa got her bunny back when papa returned to Penang. No word could describe the reunion of the little girl with her beloved friend, and I guess even Bunny is happy...

The Royal Bintang Damansara

Star rating: ****
My rating: ****

We had a short stay (one night) here when my daughter and I went to visit my husband who then worked in Selangor area while both both of us remained in Penang, during one of the weekends. My daughter's first exclamation was "I like hotel!!!" so meaning the outlook of the hotel is a satisfactory enough for the little princess, as she can be very picky (no cheap hotel/motel since she has sensitive skins and nose). The hotel is linked to The Curve, which is convenient for shopping but since we arrived in the evening. I can't remember much of the hotel as I was dead tired but we still went for a little shopping in The Curve.

The room is a great satisfactory though the bathroom is placed too close to the bed, and since I was a few months pregnant, night visits to the loo is frequent so I found this inconvenient because my daughter has highly sensitive ears since she was born, she'll wake up at the slightest sound. So every time I flushed, she'll stir a bit but maybe because she was tired too, she didn't wake up =D
I can't comment on the breakfast or other things because it was really a short stay, as in the morning, we woke up and rush for our bus to Penang (we took Aeroline). But I really want to return here one day =)
